Glaisdale was an ironstone-mining village, recognisable by its terraces of slate-roofed cottages.
It has it's own railway station, Which is on Esk Valley Middlesbrough to Whitby line.
Next to the station and almost under the rail bridge is an old stone built pannier bridge, 'Beggars Bridge,' that carries a tale of two lovers.
Fly fishing is allowed on the river but permission must be obtained before you fish.
